GRID MODERNIZATION
Grid Modernization & Communications Infrastructure Program
A multi-year program focused on expanding and upgrading communications infrastructure supporting electric distribution systems. The work includes fiber-optic and wireless communications, substation infrastructure improvements, and field equipment upgrades that strengthen connectivity between substations, distribution assets, and operational systems.
These improvements support remote monitoring and control, increase operational visibility, strengthen system reliability and resiliency, and provide the communications foundation for advanced grid technologies.

RENEWABLE ENERGY
Future Energy Jobs Act (FEJA) Projects
FEJA projects support Illinois' transition toward a cleaner and more modern electric grid. The program expanded investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency, distributed generation, and workforce development across Illinois.
FEJA-related work includes the infrastructure and interconnection needed to connect new solar and other distributed energy resources to electric distribution systems, with coordination that safely integrates renewable generation while maintaining grid reliability.

SUBSTATION RELIABILITY
Substation Battery Replacement Program
Programs that support the reliability and resiliency of critical DC power systems within electrical substations. Projects replace aging battery systems and associated equipment that provide backup power for protection, control, and switching functions.
Typical scopes include battery and rack replacements, electrical modifications, temporary power, testing, commissioning, and outage coordination — helping maintain dependable operations during normal and emergency conditions.
